Board of Directors

Billy Raines :: President

You may have seen Billy Raines leading worship at homecoming. He is a 5th generation descendant of Elijah Earle. His mother, Bettye Earle Raines, was responsible for securing Texas Historical Site designations for both the chapel and cemetery. Caring for Earle’s Chapel is a legacy for Billy, and as he says, “the area holds great significance for my past, my present and my future”. Billy has retired as CIO of American Medical Identification. If he is not at Earle’s Chapel you can find him leading worship at Remnant Church Houston or playing with his 4 grandchildren.

Kelly Meers :: Vice-President

As a child, Kelly Earle Meers learned all the old stories of Earle’s Chapel and she learned from the best. Her father, Jack Earle, was undeniably one of the world’s best storytellers and what he didn’t tell her, her Grandmama, her Aunt Bettye or her uncles Arlon and Neil did. She plans to utilize her extensive business management experience as VP of Friends of Earle’s Chapel, so that the generations to come can hear and learn the stories of their fore fathers as she did.

Cheryl Raines :: Secretary/Treasurer

Cheryl Raines is a relative newcomer to the Earle’s Chapel family, having “married in” only a little over 40 years ago. Cheryl is a former CPA and homeschool mom who coined the name “Friends of Earle’s Chapel” in 2003 while compiling a recipe book in an effort to bring running water to Earle’s Chapel. She hopes to foster a love for Earle’s Chapel in her grandchildren and thus continue the legacy of faith, family and community that was formed here.
