Lawanda Ellis (11/1/1939 – 4/22/2018)

A graveside service for Lawanda Ellis, age 87, of Dallas formerly of Jacksonville, is scheduled at 2 o’clock in the afternoon Saturday 28, 2018 at Earle’s Chapel Cemetery in Jacksonville. Services are under the direction of Autry Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Pastor John Paddock will officiate. Lawanda passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 in Dallas.

She was born November 1, 1930 in Jacksonville to Robert Lee and Reta (Meador) Barnett. Mrs. Ellis was a member of the Red Hats Society and of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed knitting and working hard in her family owned peach orchard. She was a world traveler who lived in Saudi Arabia for 35 years, a member of the Republican Party and ran voting precincts. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herb Ellis; son, Robert Earl Ellis; sister, Alta Faye Lane; and brother, Charles Barnett. Left to cherish her memory are her sons and daughters-in-law, Reed and Lucy Ellis of Dallas, Russell and Dixie Ellis of Rusk. She is also survived by five grandchildren Robert, Lara, Erich, Stephen and Teisha; and numerous nieces and nephews.
