Shelby Crawford Grimes (3/29/1937 – 07/14/2016)

A funeral service for Shelby Crawford Grimes, age 79, of Tyler, was held at 11:00 o’clock in the morning July 18, 2016, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksonville. She was laid to rest at Earle’s Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Grimes passed away Thursday July14, at her home in Tyler, TX. Shelby was born March 29, 1937, in Ben Wheeler to Carl O’Neal Crawford and Margaret Fayreen Jordan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jo King and Nell Stockton; brothers, Neal Crawford, Loy Crawford; stepmother, Edythe Crawford; stepbrother, Jerry Curry; and numerous other close relatives and life-long friends. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jeff Grimes of Arlington; grandson, Ethan Grimes; sister, Patricia McKnight and husband Hugh McKnight; brother, Patrick Crawford of Beaumont. Pallbearers are Vaughn Mixon, Irby Bearden, Scott Calhoun, Ethan Grimes, Tim Powell, Kevin Turner, Luke Calhoun and Joe Stockton. Visitation was held Sunday, July 17, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville. Shelby was a true Southern lady with style and class. She had an unimaginable love for the Christmas holiday. Her specialty was hospitality and personalized letters and cards. She had profound generosity and compassion. Her love for family and friends is unmatched. Shelby was larger than life.
